English to French and French to English language translation service, particularly aimed at people buying property in the Loire Valley area.
I am located approximately 65km south of Tours.

Many people are currently buying property in this beautiful, unspoilt, rural part of France. If you are considering purchasing, you will no doubt know that the legal process differs greatly from the English system. During your purchase, you will not only need to deal with Estate Agents and solicitors (notaires), but you may need to open a French bank account, set up direct debits for utilities, arrange insurance etc.

I offer my services: translating and advice to prospective purchasers. I have an honours degree in French (BA Hons) and also diplomas in business and commercial French (diplome d’etudes francaises et diplome de francais commercial). I also have a postgraduate certificate in Education (PGCE) and certificate in teaching English as a foreign language (RSA Cert.TEFL).

I provide a range of services including:

• Translating the initial sale contract and final deed of sale contract (compromis de vente / acte authentique de vente)
• Attending and translating at estate agents and solicitor’s offices
• Liaison between all parties including the vendor
• Setting up bank accounts in France
• Organising credit finance for property purchase
• Setting up direct debits for utilities eg rates, gas, electricity, water, telephone
• Organising insurance policies
• Many other practical issues such as maintenance contracts for central heating etc

Prospective purchasers are free to choose some or all of the above services and can be assured that they will be kept informed at every stage of the process.

My husband, Derek, and I own and run a gite business in Cléré du Bois, about 20 minutes drive south of Loches. This is an ideal place to stay should you wish to view property in the area or during the purchase process.

Property Maintenance

Property services: house maintenance and repairs (including plumbing and electrical work) garden services and swimming pool maintenance can be arranged. If required, a property inspection service is available and building work can be overseen to ensure that it is carried out properly and completed before final payment.
