Chambord
Chambord Chateau is the largest and perhaps the most dramatic of the numerous chateaux in the Loire Valley. It has 440 rooms and hundreds of fireplaces and chimneys.
One of the main Chambord Chateau interior attractions is the twin, spiraling staircases which are of an intertwined, double-helix style. People ascending do not encounter those descending
King Francis I built Chateau Chambord in the Sixteenth century to serve three purposes: a country palace, hunting lodge and sturdy fortress. He wanted to impress his subjects and visiting foreign dignitaries and he succeeded. It used to be a retreat for some of the most powerful French kings including Louis XIV.
